Things for Cleaning a Trash Can
You will have to note that you should not only clean it but disinfect it. For this, you will have to gather the materials. You will need a cleaning solution, water, distilled vinegar, gloves, and a scrub pad. If you don’t have a cleaning solution, then you can prepare your own solution with white vinegar, salt, and water. You will have to first prepare your solution so that you can proceed to clean the trash can. Try to use a gentle clean that is free from chemicals.
Removing Trash particles
The first thing that you need to keep in mind is that you will have to remove any trash. Try to get rid of all types of food particles or other items that are in the bottom. Now you can use a cleaning solution and spray it both the inside and outside. If the trash can has a cover, then you will have to apply the cleaner to the cover also.

After you are done applying the solution, you need to give a good scrub. For this, you will have to get a perfect location so that water will be easily available. If it has dry materials, then you can try using hot soapy water. Let it soak for some time so that it becomes loose. Take a mop and try to remove the grime and dirt from the trash can. A bad odor is very unpleasant and it can be very shameful when you have visitors. For this, it is important that you deodorize the trash can. You can do it by taking some vinegar. If it has dry and stubborn dirt, add a bucket of hot water and make it sit for at least an hour. Now you can empty the can and let it dry. Alternatively, you can even use baking soda and let it absorb the smell overnight. After it is dry, you can put some newspapers on the bottom to absorb the liquid.
Disinfecting the Trash Can
You can even disinfect the trash can by using a suitable disinfectant. Make it sit for at least five minutes to get rid of germs. Follow it by rinsing it thoroughly on running water. Now you can let it stay out in the sun to be dry.
