Mr. Coffee Flintshire Stainless Steel Whistling Tea Kettle

We all know that a dishwasher is a pretty handy appliance. It cleans dishes and silverware, it can sterilize your baby’s bottles, and of course, it can wash the pots and pans from dinner last night. But did you know that you could also use your dishwasher to clean other things? This blog post will answer the question, “Can I put my tea kettle in the dishwasher?”

Dishwashers are designed to wash dishes with minimal physical effort on your part. You get to place dirty dishes in the rack, close the machine, switch it on, and wait to have clean dishes once it’s done. Dishwashers are very convenient, especially for large households. Instead of spending hours clearing dishes after every meal, the dishwasher can do that for you.

You can load pots, pans, glasses, plates, cutlery, and more. Some items are ambiguous when it comes to whether or not you can place them in a dishwasher, and one of them is a tea kettle.

Dishwasher and Tea Kettle

So, are tea kettles safe to clean using a dishwasher? The answer is both yes, and no. This is because there are electric and non-electric kettles. Needless to say, electric kettles should not and cannot be immersed in water, so that rules out the possibility of you washing the kettles in a dishwasher. On the other hand, some non-electric kettles are safe enough to wash in a dishwasher.

Tea kettles made from stainless steel can safely be used in a dishwasher, but you have to confirm with the manufacturer to ensure it is safe. Like any other item, tea kettles will get damaged when exposed to water for long. The color and enamel coating can also be affected by prolonged exposure to dishwasher chemicals and heat. This is why it is not advisable to place ceramic or other coated kettles into the dishwasher. You may end up damaging your kettle in the long run.

Tea Kettle Care

You must take good care of your tea kettle to ensure it serves you for long. Below are some tips to help you

  1. Do not use the tea kettle for other purposes, such as cooking food. This may seem obvious to you, but you’d be surprised to know of the number of people who try to cook food inside a kettle, thinking it is some sort of hack. Stick to boiling water or tea in it. Avoid other liquids like milk, which will only damage the inside of your kettle over the long run.
  2. Never allow your kettle to constantly have water in it. This can lead to rust and damage. After you’re done boiling water, ensure you empty the kettle and leave it to dry.
  3. If you live in an area with hard water, you should make it a habit to descale your kettle often. Hard water contains minerals that coat the insides of your kettle, causing issues. You can descale your kettle by using half a cup of vinegar and two cups of water. Let the mixture simmer, then wash it out, rinse with clean water, and your kettle will be as good as new.

With these tips, you can keep your kettle clean and working at its best. Our team at PolyTopProducts hopes that you’ve gained some new knowledge about topic around tea kettle after having read this article.
