How to Install Subwoofers in a Car?
Subwoofers are an essential part of any music system. When you’re assembling one yourself, you’ll need to be extra careful while doing so. They help in deep bass effects and make your music come alive.
Installing subwoofers in a car is not nearly as complicated as you might think. In fact, if you know what you’re doing, installing subwoofers in a car can be relatively simple. This article will tell you how to install subwoofers in a car.
The Procedures to take When Installing a Subwoofer
The first step of this process is to gather the tools you’ll need for the installation. You’ll need tools like screws, screwdrivers, pliers, saw flashlight, wire cutters, utility knife, and more. These are tools that you can easily find in your toolbox.
Next, you’ll need subwoofers, of course. If subwoofers are too expensive for your taste, the sub box is also a must-have in this process. In fact, sub boxes are very inexpensive and can hold up to three 10 inch subwoofers with ease.
Side note- Sub box should be chosen according to the make of the vehicle you want to install them in. The most essential element of installing a subwoofer is picking the subwoofer box that will hold it and the subwoofer itself. The type of subwoofers you choose also depends on what kind of car you have.
You can choose between subsonic or sonic subwoofers based on your choice. Sonic subwoofers are from 10 to 18 inches, while subsonic woofers range from 6.5 inches to 8 inches. You should be careful while choosing the subwoofer box.
The next step involves wiring. When it comes to wiring the subwoofer box, a common mistake that people make is to directly wire the subwoofers to the primary source. This mistake is discouraged. Ensure you get the power from the battery instead of the fuse box. Remove the insulation covering the wire and connect the subwoofer box to the ground using a screw.
If your subwoofers have RCA-type connectors, you could use a subwoofer wiring adapter, which is inexpensive and easy to install.
The next step involves installing the sub boxes. Choose a seat in the car that can hold the sub box properly and open the back of the seat. Create a whole through which the subwoofer box is passed. You can buy subwoofer boxes that are already fitted with single or multiple subwoofers.
Refer to your subwoofers’ manual for the polarity of the subwoofer wiring, and remember to connect it backward if indicated in the manual.
The subwoofer should be placed on the firewall, under a seat, or in the trunk. You should make sure the wiring is concealed correctly and does not interfere with the car’s normal operations.
These subwoofer systems come with multiple sets of subwoofers or sub-amplifiers. Each set has its own separate wiring system that is connected to different speakers in complex ways. As you finalize and set up your amp’s gain, ensure that the input and output levels are the same.
