An above-ground swimming pool is a great way to have fun during the summertime. However, it can be difficult to keep your pool clean and ready for swimming without a vacuum. If you don’t have time or money to purchase a new vacuum, there are other ways that you can deep clean your pool without one.

Many people enjoy swimming in their own above-ground pool, but sometimes the upkeep can be a pain. One of the most tedious tasks is cleaning it without a vacuum, which leaves you with an unsightly mess on your hands. You can still get your pool clean, but it will take a little bit more patience and creativity.

Here is How to Clean Your Pool Without Equipments

  • If your pool has large debris, you may want to use a leaf rake to clear it out. It will take a bit of time, but this is the easiest way to get rid of any leaves or sticks that may be stuck on your pool floor. You can then follow up with a net and scoop to ensure you have gotten all debris off the ground before starting your cleaning process. If you have debris floating on the pool’s surface, a skimmer can easily take care of that.
  • If your pool has algae and sand, you may need to use a filtering system to clean it out. If your pool already has a filter, removing small particles, algae, and sand is easy.
  • If your pool does not have a filter, you may have to remove the debris yourself, which may be time and labor-intensive. You will need to dislodge any particles stuck to the sides of the pool. Next, sweep all the debris at the bottom of the pool into one pile and use a net to scoop it out. If you don’t have one, you can simply use your hands. However, you must do this process using slow movements. Big or sudden movements will create waves that will only serve to spread out the debris that you’ve painstakingly collected.
  • There are times when none of the methods mentioned above work, and the only option you have left is to drain the pool completely. You can use a siphon to drain all the water. You can refill it with fresh water and chemicals after thoroughly cleaning it.
  • After draining the pool, you want to pay attention to specific areas around your pool floor like ledges, drains, and other tight spots. You can use a soft-bristled brush to scrub away any stubborn stains. Ensure the brush you use is nylon and not metal, as the latter is suitable for concrete pools.
  • A nifty trick to getting oil stains out of the pool is to throw in a couple of tennis balls. The felt from the balls will absorb all the oil. Allow the balls to float for some time and once you notice them changing color, remove them and throw them away.

With the tips mentioned above, you can have your pool clean and ready to use in no time!
