Warming Up Muscles
To warm up the muscles, you will have to use your fingertips. Place your fingertips on the head where it meets the neck. Follow it by giving a firm pressure. If there is any discomfort, then you can use only two fingers. You need to apply pressure and then sweep it over the back. You can even use fanning motion.
The tension knots are hard knots in the muscle. For this, you will have to place your thumb on the tension knot. Apply pressure by stabilizing the thumb. Start kneading it in a circular motion that helps to release tension. You can now use your fingers up and down on the neck by giving a firm and gentle pressure. Try to widen the hand that helps to loosen the muscles on the neck and back.
The first step to stabilize pressure is to stand behind. Now you need to place the thumb of the left hand on the right neck side. Wrap all your fingers to the left ride for stabilizing the pressure of the thumb. Knead your thumb down the length of the neck and back. Do keep in mind that you will have to focus on the tension knots. You will have to repeat it on the other side.
Massaging Sides of the Neck
Start by placing your left hand on the left shoulder. This will help to stabilize the neck muscles. Now you can give a slight pressure in a downward motion. However, knead the fingers if there are any tension knots. You need to apply pressure on the shoulder plates.
Massaging the Collar Bone
Place your hand on the back to stabilize them. Use your fingertips and rub in a circular motion. It has to be right under the collar bone. However, you must not press the bone as it can cause pain. By maintaining pressure, you will now have to massage the shoulders. Try to rub up ad down to loosen up the stiff muscles.
