Computer gaming will be a perfect experience when you use the right monitor. A gaming monitor comes with multiple features so that there will be an immersive gaming experience. It can vary from the screen size to the number of connectivity ports. Here is all you need to know about a gaming monitor before purchasing.

Screen Size and Resolution

The number one consideration is the screen size. You should know that gaming monitors are available in many sizes. However, it does not mean that a large monitor size is the perfect one. It all depends upon the resolution. The 23-inch monitor can offer a resolution of 1080P or Full HD. When you use a 27-inch monitor, then you can have a WHD resolution of 1440P. There are even the ones that can provide UHD resolution on a large screen of 34 inches and above. However, this can affect the pixel density. For this, a screen size of 27 inches can be the ideal consideration.

Refresh Rate

Just like screen size, the refresh rate can also vary from one monitor to another. A normal monitor can come with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. However, you must see if it comes with a minimum refresh rate of 120 Hz. This helps to improve smoothness so that there will be a quick response while playing games.

Pixel Response

Keep in mind that the gaming monitor should come with a fast pixel response. A low pixel response can lead to smearing of the images that can impact the overall picture quality. Usually, it comes with a pixel response of gray-to-gray.

Panel Technology

Vertical Alignment or VA panels come with a native contrast ratio making it ideal for gaming purposes. However, what makes it unsuitable is that it can have ghosting effects. Twisted Nematic (TN) panels improve pixel response. However, it can lead to color shifting when you view it from an angle. On the other hand, In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels can improve color quality even in wide viewing angles. For this, an IPS technology can be a perfect consideration.

Response Time

For gaming purposes, you need to go for the one that comes with a fast response time. A low response time can lead to ghosting effects. For this, you will have to see if it comes with a response time of not more than 3 MS.

Adaptive Sync Technology

Since most gaming monitors come with variable refresh rates, Adaptive-Sync Technology helps to provide a smooth gaming experience. Most of it comes with G-SYNC or has FreeSync technology.

Aspect Ratio

The aspect ratio can be 16:9 or 21:9. This all depends upon the screen design. If it comes with a flatscreen, then the aspect ratio is 16:9. For a widescreen, the aspect ratio is 21:9.

Connectivity Options

You will have to go for the one that comes with multiple connectivity ports. This not only offers you many options but makes sure there will be a stable transfer of audio and videos. Some of the common connectivity ports include HDMI ports, USB ports, and a headphone port.
