How to Use a Mini Sewing Machine for Beginners?
A mini sewing machine is perfect for beginners as it lets you use it conveniently. It is suitable for people of all ages and comes at an affordable value. Unlike a heavy-duty machine, you can easily lift it from one place to another. Moreover, it comes with an instruction manual that enables you to have a hassle-free operation. Here are all the steps one needs to follow in order to use a min sewing machine for beginners.
Threading the Machine
The first step will be to thread the machine. For this, you will have to place the spool of thread on the spindle. In some mini sewing machines, you will find a secondary bobbin spindle that will allow you to place the bobbin there. However, keep in mind that the machine is turned off which helps to prevent any accidents. You can now direct the thread through the hole on the take-up lever. Follow it by dropping the thread down towards the needle.
Confirming Bobbin
After you are done with threading the machine, it is advised to confirm the status of the same. See if the bobbin is properly threaded. For this, you can pull the loose ends of the thread and start extending it. In some cases, you will find a channel beside the bobbin compartment. Now you can pull the bobbin thread gently and pass them under the foot presser.
Adding Batteries and Foot Pedal Setting
You will now have to load batteries so that you can power on the machine. In some cases, you will also find a power cord that will allow you to power it directly. The next step will be to log in to the foot pedal. Make sure that you will position it on the floor appropriately. You must keep the pedals narrow on your close side.
Positioning the Fabric
Before you start your project, it is important that you give it a try with a test scrap. To position the fabric, you will have to end the fabric on the backside of the presser foot. However, make sure that the fabric is in perfect length that may end up jamming the machine. Keep in mind that you must never sew over pins.
Starting to Sew
Once you are done with everything, you can now give it a try by turning on the power switch. You need to press the foot pedal to make the machine start. Always keep the fabric move away from you. You can do it by guiding the fabric gently. Try to make few stitches and prevent unraveling. Turn the handwheel and reach the needle out of the fabric. Never tug the fabric hard as it can break the needle. Cut any loose threads that are hanging.
Choosing the Settings
A mini sewing machine comes with a tension dial that lets you choose the settings. It lets you have the perfect stitching and comes with numbers that can indicate the tension. You can choose the appropriate setting according to the fabric. Always read the instructions carefully before you choose the appropriate setting. You can even select the appropriate type of length and stitch.
