10 Ways to Organize Your Kitchen Utensils
While disorganized kitchen utensils are enough to drive you crazy, tucking away your utensils can be troublesome. All you need is a little planning and some ideas on making cabinets, drawers, and countertops.
If you want to tame your kitchen or give it a complete makeover, we are confident that the tips below will help restore sanity to your beloved kitchen.
Emptying the Cabinets
Remove everything that is in the cabinets and drawers. Your main aim is to have the things you use and love. Discard the duplicates or donate them together with those that aren’t frequently used.
Put Like Items Together
Put together the baking items and the same to the cooking items. Group the glassware, the dishes you eat from, the seasonal items occasionally used and other utensils you term as special.
Set the Cabinet
After you have laid out the groups on the floor, decide on where to store each. Keep the baking, and cooking pieces near the food preparation area. The utensils should be near the prep area too. Store the glassware near the refrigerator or the sink. Mugs, filters, and sugar would be best placed near the water source in a tea or coffee station.
Store the Items in Transparent Containers
The inside of your cabinet looks streamlined when you use clear containers. Group the hot cereal packets, gravy mixes, hot cocoa envelopes, and sauce packets in plastic containers they fit in so they won’t be scattered all over. For Food like pudding mix and gelatin in tiny boxes, store them in clear plastic shoe boxes.
Put Together Containers and Lids
Dispose of containers that don’t have lids. Put the remaining plastic container together with their lids or put the lids in a different container. The same case applies to your pans and pots. Put them in a large plastic box or set them on their sides in the wire rack of the cabinet.
Utilize the Vertical Space
Underneath the cabinets, put hooks for holding mugs. You can hang a stemware rack for wine glasses in the same spot. You will have created enough space for the cabinet. For kitchen gadgets like oven mitts and measuring cups, hang adhesive hooks inside the cabinet or pantry doors to hold them. You can hang the pots and pans on a ceiling rack or a wall space.
Use Rotating Trays
Use rotating trays to hold spices, medications, and vitamins. You can as well use them to hold cooking ingredients like oils and vinegar. To avoid anything hiding in the back of your refrigerator, use the Lazy Susans for beverages and the leftovers.
Use of Drawer Dividers
If you need somewhere to keep those miscellaneous things, drawer dividers work well for your junk drawers and cooking utensils. They allow you space for every item.
Sort Papers
On the refrigerator side, hang a magnetic sorter box for coupons, a notepad, pen, and takeout menus that could be accumulating on the countertops. Put a section in the sorter for every type of paper.
Clean the Refrigerator
Set the trash bags close to the trash can and throw a stack of loose bags into the bottom of the can. After pulling out a bag, there will be another waiting to be used below it. Throw your Food fortnightly and clean out your refrigerator every week. Throw away what needs to be pitched. Your refrigerator will be less cluttered and will always harbor current items only.
Invest your time and energy in decongesting your beloved kitchen and run your kitchen affairs as smoothly as possible.
