Lisol 2 Pack Magnetic Air Deflector

Air deflectors are designed to keep the air flowing in a specific direction. They also help prevent debris from falling into your AC unit or HVAC system and can be found on many modern units. Some people may not like the look of these devices, so they decide to remove them for aesthetic reasons. If you want to remove an air deflector from your AC unit or HVAC system, there are a few steps you can follow.

You may want to remove your air deflectors for different reasons. When you remove the air deflectors from an AC unit or HVAC, airflow will increase. This is important because if you set it too high on your thermostat, it can cause your system to work harder than necessary and use more energy. In addition, when the air deflectors are removed, there is less risk of debris entering the system, which can clog up the compressor and cause expensive repairs.

Here’s How to Remove Air Deflectors Properly

  • First, turn off the power to your AC system at the electrical box to remove air deflectors. This will ensure that you do not get hurt when removing the air deflector or forget and turn on the unit while working with it.
  • Next, use a screwdriver or Allen wrench to remove any screws holding down an outer panel of your HVAC system. Take care not to drop the HVAC panel. Once removed, you should see the air deflector attached to an inner layer of your system.
  • Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off any rivets or nails holding down the air deflector, and remove it from its position on your HVAC unit. If you have trouble removing these items, try scraping away at them with a razor blade to help create space to lift the nails.
  • Next, you may have to remove any additional screws holding down a metal or plastic liner of the HVAC system. You should now be able to access the air deflector you removed earlier and its connecting vent lines, which will need replacing upon installation. Congratulations! You’ve successfully managed to remove your first air deflectors.
  • In case you change your mind and want to reinstall them, the process is just as simple. First, reattach all torn-off nails, push them back into place, and secure them with screws.
  • After replacing the air deflectors within your HVAC system, connect all attached vent lines to their corresponding holes for them to properly function again. You are now ready for reinstallation! Make sure that you do not forget anything before closing up the side of the HVAC unit.
  • Lastly, turn on your air conditioner to check if the deflectors are working correctly.

If you want your air deflectors to work properly, there are a few tips on maintaining them. First, make sure that they are clean and free of debris. If you need to use a vacuum cleaner, use it gently to avoid costly repairs. Also, oiling your air defectors every now and will keep them working in good condition.
