How to Dry Clothes Without Dryer?
Laundry is not always a fun chore to do. The average home does 8 to 10 loads of laundry every week. So, in as much as you may try to put off doing laundry, you may not get away with it for too long. If you live without a dryer, whether by choice or not, then laundry days become more tedious. There are some benefits to living without a clothes dryer that includes not using one, saving on electricity, and more.
If you do not have a dryer, your clothes may become slightly damp or even slightly wet after washing them. If they are not in direct sunlight, they will probably be warm enough to put right into the clothes drawer or closet when washing. However, if your home does not have a dryer, you may want to look into the following methods you can use to dry your clothes without a dryer.
Hang Your Clothes Outside
One thing to do is dry your clothes outside. This may sound like a hassle if you have many clothing items, but there are ways of doing it fast and efficiently. For example, hang your clothes on the line or over a fence to be exposed to the sun as this will help them dry more quickly. Another option is to purchase a drying rack with a lot of space for you to hang your clothes on.
Use a Hairdryer
Another way to dry your clothes without a dryer is to use a hairdryer. You can do this by taking your wet clothes and wrapping them up in a towel, then using the hairdryer on high heat until they are warm but not hot. Try to avoid exposing them to direct heat as it will damage the material or stretch it out unnecessarily. As you use the hairdryer to dry your clothes, ensure you turn them inside out to allow for even proper drying.
Use an Iron and Towel
Another way to dry clothes without a dryer is to use an iron and towel. This process will work best on items made from materials that can withstand the heat of the iron, such as cotton material. Use your iron on its highest setting (usually preferred) for about ten minutes or until they have completely dried out. Lay them flat on a surface, and then place a towel on top. The towel will be to absorb the iron’s heat.
Use an Oven
Surprisingly, you can use an oven to dry your clothes. Preheat your oven to its maximum temperature setting, which should be around 200 degrees F. Place the clothes you wish to dry on a rack inside the oven and set it for about ten minutes or until they are completely dry. You can also use a heating pad when using this method.
As you can see, even without a dryer, you still have other useful ways to get your clothes dry.
