The 10 Types of Coffee Recipes at Home

Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world. There are various health benefits of coffee. There are various types of coffee people love to have throughout the day. You will also find different variations of coffee selling in the coffee joints. Starting from cappuccino and cold coffee to filtered and espresso coffee, there is no end to coffee variations. If you are a regular coffee consumer, you should know how to prepare them so that you can make them at home with your drip coffee maker. The following is the list of the top 10 types of coffee recipes at home.

1. Cappuccino

Capuccino

Cappuccino is an extremely popular form of coffee that coffee joints sell the most. It is perfect to start your day on a high note.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of ground coffee(espresso blend)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup of milk
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar

Preparation

  • Step 1 – Take the saucepan and pour the milk into it. You can add more milk as per your preference.
  • Step 2 – Add the cinnamon stick and heat the saucepan and wait till the milk comes to boiling.
  • Step 3 – Now, turn down the heat and let the milk simmer for ten minutes. Remove the cinnamon stick.
  • Step 4 – Pour the ground coffee into your cup and add sugar as per your preference.
  • Step 5 – Pour the hot milk into the cup from some height. Take a spoon and stir slightly.
  • Step 6 – Sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon in any shape and serve hot.

2. Filtered Coffee

Filtered Coffee

Filtered coffee is the most popular coffee type in most of the Asian countries. Besides, it is a perfect homemade coffee variation everyone should try out.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup of ground coffee
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • Coffee filter paper

Preparation

  • Step 1 – You will need two containers. One container needs to have holes at the bottom so that coffee passes through the container to the second container. First, place the coffee filter papers on the perforated container and place the container on the top of the second container.
  • Step 2 – Take a saucepan and boil the water. Pour the ground coffee on the filter papers inside the container.
  • Step 3 – Pour the boiled water on the ground coffee inside the container and cover the container. Let the coffee drip into the second container.
  • Step 4 – Once all the coffee has dripped into the second container, take the saucepan and heat the milk. Mix the hot milk into the coffee and add sugar as desired.
    Pour the hot coffee int a cup and serve fresh.

3. Cold Coffee

Cold Coffee

Cold coffee sells like hot cakes from the coffee joints. Many people buy them and store them in the refrigerator for drinking them later on. Instead, you can prepare at home and enjoy fresh as well as stored cold coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of instant coffee
  • ¼ cup of warm water
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 5 Ice cubes
  • 2 cup of chilled milk

Preparation

  • Step 1 – Add the instant coffee to a bowl.
  • Step 2 – Add the warm water to the bowl. Stir and mix it well.
  • Step 3 – Pour the mixture from the bowl into a blender jar.
  • Step 4 – Add sugar as per your preference in the jar.
  • Step 5 – Start blending and let it blend for a minute. You will see the coffee becoming frothy and the shade of coffee becoming light brown.
  • Step 6 – If you want a thicker blended cold coffee, add 2 to 3 ice cubes. For a lighter blended cold coffee, add 5 ice cubes.
  • Step 7 – Pour the chilled milk and blend for a few seconds.
  • Step 8 – Pour out the cold coffee in a container or glass and serve immediately.  You can also store it in a refrigerator.

4. Irish Coffee

Irish Coffee

Different countries have their own versions of coffee and they are quite fascinating to taste.

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Whipped cream
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 50 ml Irish Whisky
  • 1 cup of freshly brewed coffee
  • Hot water
  • Grated nutmeg

Preparation

  • Step 1 – Take a tall glass and fill it with hot water to pre-heat the glass and then pour out the water.
  • Step 2 - Take a bowl and take some whisky and whip the cream and put it in the refrigerator.
  • Step 3 – Take a small pan and take hot water into it. Add the brown sugar and let it dissolve by boiling the mixture.
  • Step 4 – Add some brewed coffee and stir well.
  • Step 5 – Move the pan from the heat and add whisky and stir well.
  • Step 6 – Pour the mixture into the tall glass. Take the cream out of the refrigerator and whisk.
  • Step 7 – Pour it in the glass with the back of a spoon so that it floats and fill till the rim of the glass.
  • Step 8 – Add the grated nutmeg on the top and serve.

5. Dalgona Coffee

Dalgona Coffee

This is a trending coffee type that has become extremely popular during the lockdown period of coronavirus.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon of instant coffee
  • 2 tablesppon of granulated sugar
  • Hot water
  • Ice
  • Milk

Preparation

  • Step 1 – Take a bowl and add sugar and coffee and some hot water. Whisk it vigorously till it turns smooth. Continue whisking till it thickens and turns foamy.
  • Step 2 – Take a glass and pour ice and milk and table the whisked mixture and mix before drinking.
    The whisking should take 10 minutes and the taste of the coffee depends

6. Iced Coffee

Iced Coffee

Iced coffee is different from cold coffee and it is perfect for a hot summer day. It can be a great cocktail if you want to.

Ingredients

  • Freshly brewed coffee
  • Milk
  • Rum
  • Ice cream
  • Grated nutmeg
  • Ice cubes

Preparation

  • Step 1 – You should freeze the ice cubes with some brewed coffee mixed with them.
  • Step 2 – Blender the milk with nutmeg and rum until the mixture turns frothy.
  • Step 3 – Pour the coffee into a mason jar and add the coffee-mixed ice cubes.
  • Step 4 – Top it up with ice cream and pinch of cocoa powder, if available.

7. Spicy Coffee

Spicy Coffee

Once in a while, it is good to spice up the usual things you are drinking. Spicy coffee sounds weird but you may just love the taste.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon of instant coffee
  • 2 tablespoon of cardamom powder
  • 3 tablespoon of finely chopped ginger
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 4 tablespoon of cream
  • Grated chocolate
  • Foamed milk

Preparation

  • Step 1 – Mix coffee with 1 ½ tablespoon of cardamom powder and ginger.
  • Step 2 – Brew the mixture in some water.
  • Step 3 – Take a saucepan and heat milk and sugar.
  • Step 4 – Pour in the brewing coffee into the milk.
  • Step 5 – Whip the cream and add the remaining cardamom powder.
  • Step 5 – Stir the coffee well and serve with grated chocolate on the top.

8. Mocha

Mocha

Mocha is a popular form of coffee sold in Starbucks and other coffee joints. Here is how you can do it at home with an espresso machine.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon of instant espresso coffee
  • 1 ounce of chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 cup of foamed milk

Preparation

  • Step 1 – Take the milk in the saucepan and heat it for a few minutes until it starts steaming.
  • Step 2 – Pour out the milk and in the clean saucepan, pour the chocolate and heat it at medium-low heat.
  • Step 3 – Add 1 teaspoon of espresso or more depending on how strong you like it. Add sugar as per your preference.
  • Step 4 – Stir the mixture until the chocolate melts and the mixture becomes smooth.
  • Step 5 – Add the hot milk into the chocolate mixture slowly with a tablespoon. Make sure the mixture becomes homogeneous as you see in a classic mocha sold in outlets.
  • Step 6 – Reserve at least ¼ cup of milk for later. Put the heat to medium from medium-low.
  • Step 7 – Take the reserved milk in a mason jar and shake thoroughly for it to foam. Pour the mocha mixture into a cup or mug and add the foamed milk for the mason jar over the mocha mixture.
    You can put grated chocolate and whipped cream on top before serving.

9. Espresso

Espresso

Espresso is something you can drink directly or use it to make other coffee variants. You will need a French press for the preparation. There are also Espresso machines available to make Espresso instantly.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons for coarse ground coffee
  • 1 cup of hot water
  • French Press

Preparation

  • Step 1 – Pour the ground coffee into the French Press.
  • Step 2 – Pour in some hot water and stir and then pour the rest and stir again.
  • Step 3 – Wait for five minutes and press the plunger down.
  • Step 4 – Pour out the coffee above the plunger into a cup.

10. Latte Coffee

Latte Coffee

Latte is a different variant of Espresso and it is easy to make once you have made Espresso.

Ingredients

  • 1 cups of Espresso coffee(hot and fresh)
  • 1 cup of milk

Preparation

  • Step 1- Take a saucepan and heat the milk at medium-low heat.
  • Step 2- Keep whishing the milk till it forms foam.
  • Step 3 – Pour the Espresso coffee in a cup to half its length.
  • Step 4 - Pour hot milk but hold the foam with a spoon.
  • Step 5 – Spread the foam over the cup of coffee with a spoon.
    Serve with a pinch of cinnamon powder and design with cream.

If you are a true coffee lover, you must have tried out multiple of these coffee types. However, we all know that make them at home from scratch tastes far better and feels more satisfactory. Try out all of these coffee types, and you can do them without buying a coffee machine.
